District 3 – Sonny Borrelli

Supervisor Sonny Borrelli, a retired USMC GySgt, served in the Marines from 1977 to 1999. After relocating to Arizona in 2000, he pursued small business ownership and served on the Lake Havasu City council from 2010 to 2012.

In 2012, Borrelli made a significant impact by being elected to the Arizona House of Representatives, where he served two terms. During his tenure, he held the esteemed positions of Chairman of the House Military Affairs & Public Safety Committee and Vice-Chair of the House Judiciary Committee.

In 2016, Borrelli’s dedication and commitment led him to be elected to the Arizona State Senate. In the Senate, he further contributed his expertise by serving as Vice Chair of the Senate Government Committee and later as Chairman of the Government Committee. Additionally, he actively participated in various committees, including the Appropriations Committee, Commerce & Public Safety Committee, and the Senate Finance Committee.

In December 2017, Borrelli’s contributions were recognized when he was assigned to the Joint Legislative Income Tax Credit Review Committee. In 2018, he continued to serve Arizona by being appointed as a member of the Legislative Council Committee.

In 2020, Supervisor Borrelli was reelected to a third term, during which he served as majority whip, and then was elected as Majority Leader, and resided over the Majority Caucus. As Majority Leader, among his responsibilities, he presided over the Majority Caucus. He was a member of all four Senate Committees on Government, Commerce, Judiciary, and the Senate Rules Committee. Additionally, he was appointed as Chairman of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee. 

In 2020, Supervisor Borrelli was inducted into the Military Rodeo Hall of Fame for his remarkable achievements in bronc riding and his leadership as the Commissioner of the Military Rodeo Cowboys Association from 1988 to 1999.
