Project Based Housing - Kingman Veteran Villas

Kingman Veteran Villas (KVV) is an affordable housing project located off of Hualapai Mountain Road in Kingman, Arizona. This housing project operates under the requirements of the HUD VASH voucher program and the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program, which follows HUD’s project based housing voucher guidelines. In the Project-Based Voucher (PBV) Program, the assistance is attached to the unit/structure. During the term of the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract, Mohave County Housing Authority (MCHA) will make housing assistance payments to the owner for units leased and occupied by eligible individuals/families who are referred from the Veterans Administration (VA) to MCHA.

Kingman Veteran Villas provides the following for all eligible VASH PBV participants:

• 930 Square Feet of Energy Efficient Living Space
• 2 Bedrooms
• 1 Bathroom
• 1 Car Garage
• Private Rear Yard
• Laundry Facilitie
• Clubhouse
• Owner provides all maintenance
• Owner provides and pays for all utilities to the project (Water, Sewer, Electric).

Each VASH participant must meet the eligibility guidelines of the VASH program, as well as the tax credit guidelines through KVV, prior to being referred to MCHA for rental assistance. Project Based rental assistance (which is based on each household’s income) is provided while the units are occupied by eligible individuals or families referred by the VA . In determining an appropriate rental assistance payment for a unit assisted under the Project-Based Program, MCHA will examine only those costs associated with the housing component of the unit. Costs related to supportive services associated with the unit, if any, will not be considered when establishing reasonable rental assistance payments for the unit. The gross rent for the unit is the amount of assistance for rent and tenant provided utilities.
