Per Arizona Revised Statute §11-862, the Building Code Advisory Board (BCAB) was created to determine the suitability of alternate materials or alternate methods of construction under the provisions of the Mohave County Building Code, and to provide for reasonable interpretation of the provisions of such Code. The BCAB also acts as a board of appeals in relation to a decision by the Chief Building Official. Statute requires that the Board must consist of:

  1. An architect duly licensed in the state of Arizona.
  2. A professional engineer duly licensed in the state of Arizona.
  3. A general contractor duly licensed in the state of Arizona.
  4. A person representing the public and a resident of the county.
  5. A person engaged in the electrical, mechanical or plumbing trade.

The Board of Supervisors may appoint up to 7 members to the BCAB. If the Board of Supervisors appoints more than five members, the additional members may be engaged in the construction and design industry. It should be noted that there are no requirements relating to the district in which the members reside. Currently, the Building Code Advisory Board consists of:

  1. Rex Ruge: Licensed Professional Architect
  2. Peter Proffit, Licensed Professional Engineer
  3. Mehdi Azarmi: Licensed General Contractor
  4. Daniel (Dan) Renner: General Public
  5. Keith Walker: Licensed Electrical Contractor
  6. Doug McKee: Licensed Building Contractor
  7. Richard Hamilton: Licensed General Contractor
