Environmental Health

The Environmental Health Division (EHD) provides inspection and licensure or permitting of all food and beverage establishments including restaurants, grocery and convenience stores, catering services, wholesale food distributors, processors and temporary events. The EHD provides the same services for all public and semi-public swimming pools, septic and refuse haulers, pet shops, grooming shops, kennels and lodging establishments. In addition, the EHD responds to public health nuisance complaints from department offices in Kingman, Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City and Beaver Dam.

The EHD works under a delegation agreement from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and a second delegation agreement from the Arizona Department of Health Services. These agreements outline the responsibilities of the local health department and give the county authority to carry out those functions.

The EHD services are carried out by Environmental Health Specialists. The Environmental Health Specialist is one who has a strong background in scientific studies and has passed a Registration exam administered by the Arizona Department of Health Services. The registration process is overseen by the Arizona Sanitarian's Council.
