HIV Prevention Program

Mohave County Department of Public Health offers services under the HIV Prevention Program:

HIV Counseling and Testing is available. Our staff provide current information on HIV including: routes of transmission, methods of reducing the risk of HIV transmission, and post-test counseling. Appointments are available at three Department of Public Health locations listed below.

Confidentiality - Each client is provided a personal identification number. The ID number is used to reference the client and is placed on the clients specimen. Client confidentiality is of highest priority.

Testing Methods - Rapid test - finger prick screening that provides results in 20 minutes.
Serological - a blood specimen is collected and submitted to the Arizona State Laboratory for testing.

Results - Serological results are received in typically within one week. Results are given to the client only and are not given over the telephone.

Linkage to care - Newly diagnosed HIV positive persons will be linked/referred to a provider who can treat them for their new diagnosis and provide appropriate care. Previously diagnosed patients who have fallen out of care, we can assist in linking to appropriate community resources to resume care.
