Children's Book Author Visits County's Lake Havasu City Branch

County’s Lake Havasu City Library Branch Hosts Storytime & Puppet Show with Children’s Author Phoebe Fox

The County’s Lake Havasu City library branch will be hosting a special Pre-school Storytime and Puppet Show program featuring regional children’s book author Phoebe Fox on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 10:30am in the branch’s Community Rooms A/B. Fox will be reading from her book, On the Verde River, and presenting a puppet show for the youngest visitors to learn about the desert animals and nature that inhabit the Verde River ecosystem. Participants will also have an opportunity to enjoy a topical craft activity in this free session designed for children aged 6 years and under.

On the Verde River highlights the wonders and natural beauty of the Verde Valley. It is a true celebration of Arizona in an environment where rabbits hop, owls swoop and the stars shimmer in the night sky. Published by The Friends of the Verde River and selected by the Arizona Center for the Book to represent Arizona’s literary heritage at the 2024 National Book Festival, this title event is recommended for anyone who loves Arizona, or wants to learn more about the area.

The guest host is the award-winning children’s author Phoebe Fox, a native Arizonan, former teacher and elementary school library media specialist. She has a B.A. in Early Childhood Development and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2020, Fox was awarded for Best Children’s and Youth Poetry Book by the International Latino Book Awards for her “Babies Nurse/Asì se alimentan los bebès.” She is also the host of Mamafox Books’ Storytime Saturdays on YouTube.

This project is supported by the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

All children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. This is a FREE library event and open to the public.
