Comments Sought on Proposed Red Lake Hydroelectric Facility

MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (July 12, 2024) – Gravity Storage, LLC filed an application for a preliminary permit pursuant to Section 40 (f) of the Federal Power Act (FPA), proposing to study the feasibility of Red Lake Pumped Storage Project (project) to be located in Mohave County, Arizona. The proposed closed-loop pumped storage project would occupy federal land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The proposed project would consist of two water reservoirs with a total storage capacity of 26,000 acre-feet. The two reservoirs would be located at different elevations, and water would flow between the two, through a series of turbines to generate reusable energy. Meanwhile, Mohave County is informing its residents and asking them to review the proposed project and to file comments using the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s eFiling system at https://ferconline.ferc.gov/QuickComment.aspx. You must include your name and contact information at the end of your comments. The comment submittal period ends August 12, 2024.
