Mohave County Flood Control District & FEMA Issued Draft Flood Risk Insurance Maps (FIRM'S) for the County
Mohave County Flood Control District in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued draft flood insurance rate maps to communities in Mohave County, Arizona. The draft maps will help community officials and local residents identify known flood risks and when finalized, will be used for land use and development decisions.
The draft maps revise and update information on the existence and severity of flood hazards in the unincorporated (and partially incorporated) areas of Golden Valley, the greater Dolan Springs area and North Lake Havasu in Mohave County. The revised maps are based on detailed ground elevation models, decades of rainfall and storm gauge information, and recent topographic data.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to review the draft flood maps to learn about local flood risks. Those who believe the proposed flood maps contain errors will be able to appeal the studies by submitting additional scientific or technical information through their floodplain administrator to FEMA.
Mohave County Flood Control has copies of the maps available for public viewing or they can be viewed online at https://bit.ly/FloodMapChangesViewer
