Notice of Fire Emergency Determination Prohibition on Open Fire/Fireworks Ban Lifted

In accordance with Mohave County Ordinance No. 2013-04, Section V., the Mohave County Emergency Management Officer, Mike Browning has determined that “an emergency condition warranting an Outdoor Fire and Permissible Consumer Fireworks Prohibition currently does not exist in each and all Fire Zones in Mohave County.”

In accordance with the Proclamation enacted by the Board of Supervisors on June 28, 2024, which imposed a ban on open fires, campfires, and consumer fireworks within the unincorporated areas of Mohave County, the issuance of this determination by Browning that the emergency condition warranting the ban no longer exists within the county allows for lifting of the ban.

The prohibition/ban on open fires, campfires, and consumer fireworks within the unincorporated areas of Mohave County has been lifted since 8:00 a.m., September 27, 2024, to coincide with the lifting of a similar prohibition/ban on Bureau of Land Management managed properties in the County.

This recommendation is based on discussions with Bureau of Land Management (BLM) fire management personnel and Fire Department Chiefs in the county. Recent precipitation, weather changes, fire ignitions and behaviors have been factored into this determination. The lifting of the ban coincides with BLM also lifting their fire restrictions on the same date.

Joseph Dorner, the County’s Director of Risk and Emergency Management says the formal ratification of the lifting of the prohibition/ban will be placed on the Monday, October 7, 2024,
