The groundbreaking ceremony for Mohave County’s new “Reach Out” facility will take place on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 10 a.m. at

501 W Highway #66 Kingman, AZ 86401. The new facility will be the physical result of a re-entry program that helps recently released inmates avoid returning to jail and to reduce recidivism. The detox center offers a safe and secure environment for individuals who need help or are required by the court system to get clean.

Mohave County is committed to the development and construction of this facility to support a Reach Out Initiative. A Reach Out Initiative typically includes a team of stakeholders that cross over multiple systems, including mental health, substance use, law enforcement, pretrial services, courts, jails, community corrections, housing, health, social services, family members and many others. The goal is to improve cross-system collaborations to reduce involvement in the justice system by people with mental and substance use disorders.

The location of this new facility is strategic in that the entrance to it is literally a few steps away from the door where inmates are released from jail custody.  The new building a re-entry program and a detox center. This will allow for another opportunity to speak with newly released inmates and get them connected with services in near real time. The second story of the facility is designed with the intention that a 12-bed medical detoxification facility could be operated to further address the substance use issues in the county community.

Other supervisors and dignitaries are expected to attend as well.  The public is cordially invited. Construction is expected to be completed by July, 2025.
